Light, Atmosphere, Time
A personal project: Exploring how light shapes a space from day to night.
Personal projects are a complementary part of my work.
They create space to explore new ideas, refine techniques and experiment with light, composition and storytelling.
These insights directly inform my work for hotels.

About

Tim Karapetian
Hotel photographer
My aim as a hotel photographer is to create images that make people want to be exactly where they were taken.
I don’t just show what a hotel looks like - I capture how it feels. Atmosphere, light and design come together to create a cohesive visual experience.
A natural and authentic representation is essential, building trust and connecting with guests emotionally, long before they arrive.
This is based on experience, a refined sensitivity to light and atmosphere, and the commitment to delivering each project in a way that reflects and aligns with the brand.
Questions about the collaboration
What does professional hotel photography cost?
The cost of professional hotel photography depends on the scope of the project – in particular the size of the hotel, the number of images and the areas to be photographed.
After you provide me with the project details, I will prepare a tailored proposal based on your specific requirements.
Do you work only in Germany or also internationally?
As a hotel photographer, I work with hotels in Germany, across Europe and internationally.
Most projects take place outside my location and are planned and organised individually.
What sets you apart from other hotel photographers?
My work as a hotel photographer focuses on a clear, refined and calm visual language that presents architecture, materials and atmosphere as they are perceived in the space.
This builds trust and gives potential guests an authentic impression of what to expect on site.
The result is a consistent visual foundation that carries across all areas of a hotel and clearly communicates and strengthens the brand identity.
A central part of my work is the deliberate and subtle use of light, which complements the existing light and preserves the natural character of the space.
Through the interplay of available light and carefully placed light sources, images gain a clear sense of depth and a defined lighting atmosphere. Light and shadow are used to bring out materials, textures and the spatial qualities of each space.
In post-production, this lighting is further refined to create a calm, high-quality and consistent look that carries across all images.
In addition, I regularly work with international hotel brands and am familiar with the visual requirements, workflows and brand guidelines of large hotel groups.
How is a hotel photoshoot planned?
The planning process begins with a discussion of objectives, visual direction and the intended use of the images.
Based on this, workflows, subjects, lighting conditions and timing are carefully planned.
The shoot itself is organised in a way that minimises disruption to the hotel’s daily operations.
How should we prepare for the photoshoot?
Clear preparation of spaces and processes is essential for a consistent result and a smooth workflow during the shoot.
This includes coordinated rooms, defined setups and close collaboration with housekeeping and the hotel team.
All details are discussed and defined in advance.
In addition, you will receive a detailed preparation checklist to support the process.
How long does a photoshoot take?
The duration of a hotel photoshoot depends on the scope of the project, particularly the number of images required.
Smaller productions can be completed within a single day, while larger projects may take several days.
How does professional hotel photography influence booking decisions?
A hotel’s visual presentation is often the first point of contact for potential guests.
High-quality images communicate atmosphere, quality and positioning, helping to build trust and positively influence booking decisions.
How can the images be used?
Usage rights are defined individually for each project.
In most cases, this includes unrestricted use across websites, booking platforms, social media and print media.
